Amazing ...

Well you know in my last post I said something along the lines of "Some people never listen until it is too late."

Sometimes it simply doesn't happen.

There I am doing my daily run down of places on the web and I find myself on the Pickingill thread on Pagan Network. Naturally I look at it and regularly too when there is movement.
(I also frequently check out Disturbing Auctions.com and PlaidStallions.com - they are often more interesting!)

Anyhow today I was amazed to see someone totally unrelated had finally hit on the very nail of my objections to the sort of silliness that has been going on all this time.
"The trouble is that while the discussion may have been "eloquent" the argument has not in fact been very good ..... from the convinced anti-Pickingill side it has largely just been abuse and ex cathedra pronouncements. Not very helpful. So actual progress is slow although it is happening.I'm amazed that so little effort has been made to research the question by people on the spot.....for glaring example, who, if anyone, was Cunning Shewell?"
Oh ... MY ... GODS! That is IT in a nutshell.

Now IF the standard byline that is trotted out: "It has all since been disproved" was ACTUALLY THE CASE that would AT LEAST BE SOMETHING wouldn't it!?!

When this is pointed out the usual worthies retreat to mentioning "Hutton" like they somehow think it is some sort of exorcismic rite.

(Visuals of smug guy saying "Hutton!" in hopes we will somehow vanish in a puff of smoke are amusing - I'll give it that!)

So there I am digging that moment well and then I screed back a bit and I find the same guy saying:
"Hi Mod, "refuted" doesn't mean the same as "denied" you know. So far as I can see the position is still fundamentally where Ron Hutton left it, and he went out of his way in the Moon to make clear that he had not disproved, ie refuted, Bill Liddell's claims; he also made it clear that he didn't believe them. ...... And in any case the thread is public. The reason the thread is "interminable" is because the subject is interesting. Surely people bored with it could just not read it? Or am I missing something here? "

Whoah ... I am not surpised that all the Pagan Network heavies, (and those who wish to be with the "in crowd" as well) have all waded back into the fray! Suggesting that they actually haven't done what they try so hard to convince everyone they have done? Suggesting that they haven't stuck to the guidelines they demand of everyone else ("Back it up! Where's the evidence? Actually argue the Point!" etc) and having the temerity to actually show that they are NOT in accord with their favourite Dogma. Geezuz this guy must have balls of steel! lol Actually he has done a law degree I discover so he must be yokking it up at these guys.

With simple common sense like this being touted about - well Gods only know what may happen next! lol

As an amusing side note, in a totally different thread I am getting a hot time wound up at me. I did actually wonder why especially given I have made it clear that I am not interested in discussiing that aspect of my life with these people. (I mean what would be the point after all? I am not interested in putting up with their rubbish and they don't care what I believe sooo ... ??)

I note that this feller said "Am I missing something?" and I said that too in the other thread yesterday ... Hmmm ... well no wonder then. Hell maybe they even think we are the same person ... *Shrugs*

Well if nothing else at least it means I am not being singled out ONLY due to my beliefs - which of course no one would expect of modern crafters now would they? lol
