Jesus had days like this I am sure ..

..... no really I imagine he must have given many of his followers.

Now before I continue: those of you out there who still do strangely adhere to the idea behind the popularity of the Freedom Fighter From Nazaerth (FFFN!) you know perfectly well I am not talking to you so get the sneer of your faces!

Anyhow ... I got this wee story this morning in my email.

http://www.greatpetnet.com/630/jasmine-the-mother-theresa-greyhound/

It is charming story of an abused Greyhound who wound up at a pet shelter and now acts as the welcoming committee for the new animals no matter the kind.

Awwwww .... *Head to side saccharine smile* ...

and no she doesn't eat them.

Actually I do think it is charming cause gods know there is enough horror on the news feeds so it is nice to see something that actually IS NEWS and is pleasant.

BUT ... yes you knew there was one coming ...

About half way down I started laughing. Why you ask? Well take a look at this pic!

Now am I like the ONLY one who is looking at that fox's face and hearing him say:

"Hey Guys! Anyone who can see me! There is this animal shelter and they have all sorts of cuddly wee tasty treats .. and they don't chase you out or NUTHIN!!! Hell this one has remembered her roots and actually WELCOMES YOU IN!! Buffet is OPEN! C'MON QUICK BEFORE THEY CHANGE THEIR MINDS!" LOL

Of course I was still chuckling and laughing at the last picture too where it is clear that dear angelic Jasmine is telling the wee doggy on the other end of the couch (Toby is his name for those that care) what will happen if he screws the shot up again.

THEN IT HAPPENED .... now the name should have forewarned me but no I was actually taken off guard ..

"From left, Toby, a stray Lakeland dog; Bramble, orphaned Roe deer; Buster, a stray Jack Russell; a dumped rabbit; Sky, an injured barn owl; and Jasmine with a Mothers heart doing best what a caring Mother would do… Such is the order of God’s Creation."

*Twitch* Say what? Oho REAAAALLLLY!?

Here is a quick heads up about the old monster in the clouds. IF (note IF!) your "God" is as you believe him to be then he is omnipotent and all things are of him and continue according to his plan. Now that is dandy cause it means old Jasmine is doing "God's Work" ... BUT it ALSO means that it was "God's Will" that she was abused in the first place and left to starve to death!

Now don't bother me with the whole free will thing - that does not in this case invalidate the argument at all now does it? NO! Quite a quandary eh? So which is it to be God Botherers? Omnipotent/Omniscient (and thereby rather monstrous if you look in the right spots) or not? lol

See I got no problem with it at all. The gods I worship aren't what I talk about in that way because they frankly don't care THAT much about the bigger picture that they want to attempt effort like omniscience! I also happen to know that they can be positively bestial when the mood strikes them and so are capable of cruelty I can only dream of have they a mind for it. *Shrugs*

I also got no problem with people believing that their "God" is omnipotent and omniscient, (even though I think it beggars belief for reasons like this or that if you are busy running a universe that you'd bother with the quiet views of one person!)

No, in this case my point is simple: When writing something like this be careful what you say so as not to appear totally fatuous ro comic in a way that may after all damage the point of the article. Let me show you how:

"Jasmine, the Mother Theresa Greyhound" - Yes she is they do after all share so much in common! They are both brown, incapable of standing up on two legs for any length of time and smell funny.

I know that is not what they meant, (and yes I know Mother Theresa is dead - hence "they both smell funny" bit!)

What they meant is that she is kind and nice - just like Mother Theresa was. Ok fair comment - or at least it would be if not for the final point: "Jasmine with a Mothers heart doing best what a caring Mother would do… Such is the order of God’s Creation."

The order of God's creation is a mother looking after her children - which Mother Theresa clearly did not. The kooky outfit suggests no kids you see.

Don't try that whole bollox of: "Well in a way she did; she looked after all as if they were her children and that is what Jasmine is doing!" because here is the logic - were that the idea clearly then the article would not be surprising and therefore would have no novel value or be news!!

Geez people THINK these things through!!!

I still think it is cute and touching though - just such a pity that one again something that is so is lumbered down with highly confused notions of divinity and religion. *I* think it is special BECAUSE it is NOT subject to any god's say so - other wise it would just be following orders now wouldn't it surely?

See how the world alters when you look at it closely? Best to just sleep in I say!

Yes indeed .... Jesus had days like this I am sure ..
